Buckeye Farmers:
A Trusted Partner
for Poettinger, GreenTec, and AgriGold

Date: February 04, 2026

Buckeye Farmers started as a side project and grew into something much bigger. We're farmer-owned, actively farming, and we partner with Poettinger, GreenTec, and AgriGold to help growers across Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky get results. We focus on product knowledge, straight answers, and support that continues long after the sale. We're one of 102 Poettinger dealers in the United States and the distributor for GreenTec, and we cover up to 450 miles from home.

Key Takeaways

  • Buckeye Farmers is farmer-owned and actively farms. We bring real-world experience to every recommendation

  • We're not an implement dealer in the traditional sense. We're what Poettinger calls a "farmer dealer," and we've made it work

  • Expert-level product knowledge across Poettinger hay and tillage equipment, GreenTec greenspace management, and AgriGold seed

  • We cover mainly Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky

  • Support continues after the sale through parts, service, and agronomic guidance

We didn't set out to build a big dealership. When we started Buckeye Farmers a few years back, it was supposed to be small. Sell a little AgriGold seed locally. Maybe move a few pieces of equipment as a side project.

It grew way beyond what we expected.

Now we're one of 102 Poettinger dealers in the United States, the distributor for GreenTec in the U.S., and we've been growing our AgriGold seed business for about 17 years. We typically increase by 500 units of corn a year, just at a steady pace.

The advice we give comes from firsthand experience. We're still farming, and that matters when you're making decisions about equipment and seed that need to pay off in real fields.

Built by Farmers, for Farmers

When we took on Poettinger about 13 years ago, we were an experiment for them. We weren't a traditional implement dealer. We were what they called a "farmer dealer." The thinking was we'd sell a few pieces locally and that would be about it.

Turns out, farmers trust farmers.

We're not reading spec sheets and brochures to you. We're out there running the same equipment, dealing with the same conditions, and trying to make the same decisions pay off. That shapes how we do business.

You get honest conversations about what fits and what doesn't. You get equipment and seed recommendations based on what actually works, not what sounds good. And you get a long-term relationship, because we're in this for the long haul.

Product Knowledge Comes First

Plenty of dealers can sell you equipment and seed. Fewer can tell you how it's really going to perform in your operation.

We lead with product knowledge because that's what saves you time and money. Knowing how a Poettinger mower handles heavy hay, how a GreenTec reach arm works in rough terrain, or how an AgriGold hybrid responds to your soil type, that's the difference between a good decision and an expensive mistake.

That depth of knowledge lets us recommend the right setup the first time, help you avoid downtime through proper configuration, and support you with accurate parts and service guidance when you need it.

Poettinger Equipment Backed by Real Support

Poettinger builds sound equipment. Everything's built in Austria, and it's designed for clean cuts and consistent performance in hay and tillage. In 2024 Poettinger continued to make a strong commitment to the United States. Poettinger purchased 20 acres of land and built a new state of the art warehouse and headquarters in Valparaiso, Indiana.

We represent them well here in the state of Ohio. Farmers rely on us for mowers, tedders, and rakes that are sized right for their operation, setup guidance that improves cut quality and efficiency, and genuine Poettinger parts when wear items need attention.

When hay is ready, you don't have time for downtime. We understand that urgency, and we support Poettinger owners accordingly.

GreenTec Solutions for Demanding Work

We took on GreenTec in 2019 and became the distributor for the United States. GreenTec makes green area maintenance machines. Think roadside mowers, barrier mowers, and reach arms for vegetation management.

It's tough work, and the equipment needs to hold up. GreenTec builds machines for that kind of demanding use, whether you're maintaining roadsides, clearing fence rows, or working difficult terrain.

We bring the product knowledge to match the right GreenTec solution to your job. That means helping you select the correct reach arm and attachment, making sure your hydraulic requirements are covered, and supplying wear parts that keep cutting performance consistent.

AgriGold Seed and Agronomic Support That Works

We started Buckeye Farmers with AgriGold seed, and it's been the foundation of our business for about 17 years.

Seed decisions set the tone for your entire season, so this partnership goes beyond selling bags. We help growers with hybrid selection based on field history and goals, agronomic insight to support yield potential, and in-season conversations when conditions change.

That combination of high-performing seed and agronomic support helps you manage risk and stay focused on results.

A Partner You Can Rely On After the Sale

One of the biggest differences with working with us is what happens after you buy.

You can call with questions, parts needs, or setup concerns, and you'll talk to someone who understands the equipment or seed you're asking about. We're not passing you off to a different department or making you wait days for an answer.

After-sale support includes parts sourcing with fast turnaround, equipment troubleshooting when something's not working right, and agronomic follow-up throughout the season to help you get the most from your seed investment.

Growing the Right Way

Brent Eyler, co-owner at Buckeye Farmers, shares the philosophy that's guided our growth:

My former boss shared advice in 1993 that still guides us today: grow properly and profitably.

He meant that steady 10-20% annual growth is sustainable, while chasing 100% growth year after year isn't. You need to grow at a pace that allows you to do things right.

That's been our approach at Buckeye Farmers. We started small with just AgriGold, added Poettinger, then GreenTec. We keep expanding, but on our own timeframe so we can serve customers the way they deserve.

He also said if you enjoy what you're doing 75% of the time, you'll be successful. There's real truth to that. When my enjoyment in my first job dropped below 50%, I knew it was time for a change. It took 15 years, but I made the move.

Now? I'm well above 75%.

Why Farmers Choose Buckeye Farmers

Farmers who work with us tend to value the same things we do: straight answers, proven products, and reliable support.

We're not the biggest dealer out there, but we cover a lot of ground. We serve Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky very well, and we've sold equipment to customers who found us completely online through our website.

By combining hands-on farming experience, deep product knowledge, and partnerships with companies like Poettinger, GreenTec, and AgriGold, we've built something that works for both us and the growers we serve.

FAQs

How far do you cover from your home location?

We cover up to 450 miles one way from home, helping farmers in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.

Are you really still farming?

Yes. We're actively farming, which is why we're able to give advice based on what actually works in real operations.

Can you support parts and service after the sale?

Absolutely. Parts access, product support, and follow-up are core to how we do business. You'll be able to reach someone who knows your equipment.

What makes you different from a traditional implement dealer?

We're what Poettinger calls a "farmer dealer." We're farmers first, and we bring that perspective to everything we recommend. We were an experiment when we started, and it's worked out well beyond expectations.

How do I get started?

Reach out directly. We'll talk through your equipment or seed needs and see if we're a good fit for your operation.

Conclusion

We didn't plan on building something this big. We thought we'd sell a little seed, maybe move a few pieces of equipment as a side project.

But when you combine product knowledge, farming experience, and a commitment to doing business the right way, it turns out farmers respond to that. They want to work with people who understand what they're up against and can back up their recommendations with real-world experience.

That's what we've built at Buckeye Farmers. We grow properly and profitably, we support our customers after the sale, and we enjoy what we're doing more than 75% of the time.

If that sounds like the kind of partnership you're looking for, we'd be happy to talk.
